We have not so great news about Aretha Franklin, regarding her health and touring. You undoubtedly already know where we’re going with this, but for the record, the 75-year-old music legend’s doctor has ordered her to cancel a few upcoming dates.

Here’s what Page Six is reporting …

The Queen of Soul’s management team says in a statement Friday that Franklin will not perform March 25 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey. That show would have taken place on her 76th birthday.

Franklin also won’t appear April 28 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Organizers say Rod Stewart will perform as the headliner instead.

The statement says the singer has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months. It adds that Franklin is “extremely disappointed she cannot perform as she had expected and hoped to.”

Last year, Franklin announced her plans to retire, saying she would perform at “some select things.”

We wish the queen a speedy and complete recovery

Ms. Franklin time out now! You don’t have to impress anyone any more you have already done that. We want you to live a long healthy life. Downsize and take care of yourself. All of your family should be taking care of you. They probably have drained you for years. Their times are up now. You rest! Make sure you make a will so there will be no fighting and confusion. Our lives are short. Enjoy your life and what you have done. You have touched so many lives with your soulful songs. I too am elderly now but will always listen to your music. You made Motown! Motown has gone down but you remain. Please take care of yourself! I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Love you Aretha!

  2. I am sorry Ms.Aretha is not feeling well.
    God sometimes
lays us down in green pastures to restore our souls which is our mind, will, and our emotions.
Health is our wealth. My Daddy always said this and I have found it to be true!

I pray the best for Ms Aretha Franklin. She is certainly one of the greatest ever.
For the record, she’s far from broke (60 million) and she’s no longer over weight.

    • Yep. Masters like Aretha and BB do what they do for the love of the art. They could have, and probably do/did have enough money to last them for the rest of their lives. It doesn’t make a whit of difference. They do it for the love. This is why it’s always so sad to lose one of our old masters. And also because we know we’ll never see dedication, talent and the love they have for the art again. At least not in our lifetime. I hope The Queen recovers.

  5. I pray she gets better. It’s so sad that a lot of entertainers get broke then have to rely on touring which is so bad for their health if they’re not feeling well. Look how long BB King toured been while sick. Wish they made better financial decisions.

  6. I’ve loved that lady from a boy growing up my dream is to see her in concert one day in my last life, I’ll travel to the USA just to see her, God Bless You Ms Franklin. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Ms Aretha had a legendary run. Where are her kids and grandchildren? Darn – is it the money or pure enjoyment? I hope the latter; bottom-line Ms Aretha enjoy the fruits of your life long labor. Enjoy your Family and do five to twelve dates a year. Don’t die on stage. I pray her Family can do an intervention and get to mom/grandma. Is Ms Ross or Smokey pulling a hectic schedule? True fans (like me) will travel to see legends. Get better soon……..

Common knowledge, she has had years of bad financial advice on top of out of control spending trying to keep up with the Joneses, aka Whitey. What money is left after she passes will be fought over by her family. I continue to say it until a shred of evidence proves otherwise, we are a shiggidy people indeed.
