Timothy “Tim” Cunningham left work at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) early on February 12 because he was sick.

Thing is, no one has seen or heard from him since.

Family, friends and now the Atlanta Police Department have been searching far and wide, but have come up empty-handed. Now his friends have started a GoFundMe page; where they have raised $20,000 as a reward for any information leading to his safe return.

Cunningham, 35, casually known as Tim, attended Morehouse College with social justice journalist Shaun King. He then went on to continue his education at Harvard, earning two graduate degrees, including a doctorate.

His parents drove all night long from their Maryland home to Atlanta to search for their son.

“It’s not the type of news you want to hear,”  his father, Terrell Cunningham, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday. “Your child is missing. Thirty-five years old, but always your child.”

He added, “This is not normal. This is definitely out of the ordinary.”

College mate King also made a plea on social media seeking help in finding his friend.

According to a conversation the elder Cunningham had with NBC News

“Tim had been in communication with us extensively on Sunday [Feb. 11], and I pinpoint Sunday because there were some exchanges via phone as well as text that alerted me to be concerned about our son,” Terrell Cunningham said.

Cunningham’s parents said they became increasingly worried when Tim didn’t return any texts or phone calls. When they had extended family members check on his house in Atlanta, they found it empty. But it was particularly alarming that two windows were open. Tim’s parents say that is unusual for their son.

Moreover, they said they found his phone, wallet, keys, and car undisturbed. His beloved dog Beau also was also there, they added.

“Tim never leaves Beau unattended,” Mr. Cunningham said. “He just doesn’t do it.”

The missing grad’s mother also made a public plea to her son in the event he is able to see the media coverage.

Tim Cunningham is obviously loved and well-respected in hid Atlanta community.

According to friends…

“He has this pristine service record and background, and then he’s also the guy you can call to help you move furniture or get together with you at a restaurant at the end of a long day,” said Calloway, who also knew Cunningham from college and has maintained a close relationship with him over the years.

Readers, please don’t hesitate to jump onboard the search for this man, especially if you live in the Atlanta area. The Atlanta Police Dept is also hoping to hear from you should you have any information about Tim. You can reach them via the Homicide/Adult Missing Persons Unit at (404)546-4235
