The Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage is setting sail for its 17th time this year. Here are three highlights from day one:

1. One name: Diana Ross.

The legendary singer kicked off the 2016 Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage’s sail away party wearing a flowy orange dress and her iconic big curls. Lucky for us, she looked beautiful… and sounded beautiful.

Sherri Shepherd was definitely enjoying the show:

Kym Whitley, Leon, Robert Townsend, Reverend Al Sharpton, Stephen Hill, Bern Nadette Stanis, and Jimmy Walker were among the long list of celebrities who were enjoying the show.

2.  Jaheim‘s surprise performance.

R&B crooner Jaheim was not listed as a performer in Saturday night’s show, so when the crowd learned he was following Diana Ross they were excited to say the least, especially the ladies.

3. Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, yes, you’re reading that correctly. Some may think, “Jeesh, they’re old” but let me tell you, the group didn’t miss a beat and they had everyone on their feet singing classic jams that brought you back to a special moment in your life.

We need to start a movement, #bringbackrealrnb.

Honorable Mention:

In true Tom Joyner fashion, the party kept rocking into the wee hours of the morning. The old school hip-hop party was jam packed and it felt like an old school basement party in the middle of the ocean.

We’re sure Jalil Hutchins and John “Ecstasy” Fletcher brought together a lot of Friends last night

We need to start another movement, #bringbackrealhiphop.
