An incoming Boston University professor has apologized for her controversial remarks regarding White males on Twitter, Fox News reports.

Saida Grundy, an Assistant Professor of Sociology and African-American Studies at Boston University who identifies as a “feminist sociologist of race & ethnicity,” was hit with criticism after calling White college males a “problem population” on her social media page.

Many slammed the professor and called her tweets bigoted after she stated she wouldn’t contribute to White-owned businesses on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and called St. Patrick’s Day a “made up holiday.”

“Why is White America so reluctant to identify White college males as a problem population?” she wrote.

“Every MLK week, I commit myself to not spending a dime in White-owned businesses. And every year I find it nearly impossible.”

“Can we just call St. Patrick’s Day the White people’s Kwanzaa that it is? This is not a thing in actual Ireland. It’s completely made up.”

Her tweets have since been deleted.

Following complaints from students and faculty, Grundy released a statement explaining how her views were too complex for a social platform, and should have been addressed in a professional matter.

“I regret that my personal passion about issues surrounding these events led me to speak about them indelicately,” Grundy said. “I deprived them of the nuance and complexity that such subjects always deserve. I take seriously my responsibility to create an inclusive learning environment for all of my students,” she added. “Both professionally and ethically, I am unequivocally committed to ensuring that my classroom is a space where all students are welcomed.”

Boston University president Robert Brown says he was disappointed in Grundy, but since her comments fall under free speech, no action will be taken.

“We are disappointed and concerned by statements that reduce individuals to stereotypes on the basis of a broad category such as sex, race, or ethnicity,” Brown wrote in a blast e-mail to the “Boston University community.” “I believe Dr. Grundy’s remarks fit this characterization,” he said in a statement.

Grundy will begin teaching at the university in June.

I wonder why when Black folks dare to tell the truth are they labelled as “RACIST” by ignorant Whites?

Smh, being a professor, one would assume she’d be far more intelligent than making such IGNORANT sounding statements, as a minority I do think i understand the “jist” of what she’s saying but her delivery clearly makes her sound racist, imagine if this had been a white professor making comments like this disparaging minorites…. exactly
