People Magazine finds itself right where it should be: in deep doo-doo.

Thursday night, as we all know, was the debut of Viola Davis‘ “How To Get Away With Murder” and the return of Kerry Washington‘s “Scandal” on ABC. Obviously this was a history making event on several levels:

1. Shonda Rhimes, a black woman is behind both shows

2. Black women star in both shows

3. Both shows debuted to very high ratings

So, as you can see, this is something that should have been celebrated universally, but People decided to rain on the parade. Specifically Viola Davis’ by posting this insensitive crap from the 2012 film “The Help” in which she played an uneducated maid in segregated Mississippi:

“Waiting for Viola to break into You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”

After being called out, People quickly deleted the tweet and issued this apology:

What do you think of the magazine’s apology?
