LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles prosecutors have declined to bring gun charges against rapper Dr. Dre.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles district attorney said Wednesday there was a lack of evidence that the record producer and entrepreneur had brandished a gun in public.

Sheriff’s deputies had cited Dre for a misdemeanor after a man reported that Dre pointed a handgun at him and threatened him outside his Malibu home Monday.

Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, told sheriff’s deputies he didn’t have a gun and had only asked the man to move the car blocking his driveway.

Dre was briefly handcuffed, but no weapon was found. Prosecutors say there were no other witnesses, and there were discrepancies in the man’s account.

The man then filed a citizen’s arrest complaint.

Dr. Dre was cuffed and detained outside his Malibu home today after an alleged road rage dispute over a guy blocking his driveway, TMZ reports.

Sources close to Dre said the motorist had pulled off PCH and stopped in front of Dre’s crib. When Dre asked him to move, he did but cussed at the music mogul while doing so. According to the report, Dre pulled into his driveway, but the other driver kept yelling — so Dre pulled out his phone to record video. At this point, the motorist cried “black guy with a gun,” and called the cops on Dre.

Dre sources claim the guy said, “Here we go again, another black guy with a gun.” L.A. County Sheriffs then received a call from the motorist reporting someone had pulled a gun on him.

When deputies responded they put handcuffs on Dre and searched him, but they found no gun, and let him go. However, the guy insisted on making a citizen’s arrest, which means he filled out a report detailing his allegations. The Sheriff’s Dept. will forward his report to the District Attorney — who will decide whether there’s a case.

Dre was not physically arrested by deputies. Check out video from the scene via the clip below.
