Colin Kaepernick may be using a bended knee to make his voice heard, but he will not use his vote to do the same.

According to Matt Barrows, who covers the San Francisco 49ers for the Sacramento Bee, the team’s quarterback said Tuesday he “has not voted, and will not vote, in the 2016 presidential election.”

The 29-year-old has been staging a public protest since the preseason by kneeling during the national anthem, voicing concerns over racial inequality and police violence. It caught the eye of Republican nominee for president Donald Trump, who called the protest “a terrible thing.” The veteran signal caller responded by saying that “America has never been great for people of color.”

Kaepernick has said in recent months that both candidates have been “debating who’s less racist,” and called America’s two main candidates “embarrassing.”

“To me, it was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates,” Kaepernick told reporters following the first presidential debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton. “Both are proven liars, and it almost seems like they’re trying to debate who’s less racist. And at this point, talking with one of my friends, it was, you have to pick the lesser of two evils, but in the end, it’s still evil.”

The QB, meanwhile, continues to take a knee during the national anthem before games to protest of racial discrimination.

  1. Colin, I agree with you. That’s your choice to make. Who were you to vote for? A liar, security violator or racists. The choices were embarrassing and unlike many blacks who are controlled to thinking they HAVE to vote democratic, he got out of that master/slave mentality. Good luck in your choices, Colin!!!

SMH, just like that ive lost all respect for him, choices were between someone who was actually willing to listen to & address minority concerns vs someone who’s made it QUITE clear that minorities are the problem & Kaepernick thought it was smart to encourage people to not vote …. ignorance at its finet

The process is rigged from the beginning!! There is truly no need for the “Electoral vote” anymore, it should be outlawed!! People’s vote should be the only vote counted, not the electoral vote. The right to vote or not is personal, don’t hate the person, hate the game. As we are all aware, there are legal actions pending against Trump. He’s president elect, not president yet!!! And if the law abd charges against him stand, he won’t be president anyway. Rape charged, theft charges, treason, fraud, and a host of other charges, he may not make it to the white house at all. So stand strong, there’s still hope!!!

  4. I think he is trying to be an activist, but needs some mentoring and guidance. Then, he may understand some fundamentals that are nonnegotiables such as voting.

  5. Colin Kaepernick, Nick Cannon, and Bow Wow are 3 dummies who are symptomatic of black apathy about politics that allowed this fiasco to happen. How dare they, and others like them tell our young people not to vote? Colin is the worst of all because he pretends he’s “pro-black” when it suits him, yet he spat on the graves of those who died fighting to get us the right to vote without worry of being lynched while attempting to do it? He is a fraud!
