CINCINNATI (AP) — A pretrial hearing is set with jury selection to begin next week for the murder trial of a white former police officer charged with killing an unarmed black man during a traffic stop.

Hamilton County Commons Pleas Court Judge Megan Shanahan plans to discuss jury procedures and other pretrial matters Friday with prosecution and defense attorneys. Twenty-six-year-old fired University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and voluntary manslaughter in the 2015 shooting of 43-year-old Sam DuBose.

Jury selection begins Oct. 25, with courtroom questioning of prospective jurors set for Oct. 31.

Tensing is free on $1 million bond. He was in court for an Oct. 14 hearing, but isn’t expected to be there Friday.

Sam should never have been killed.was the guy a model citizen no.but no need for the senseless killing. I hope Ray fries! Or someone shoots his dumbass in the face

    • You’re right. He wasn’t a model citizen. He was a criminal. Which is why I don’t understand the decision to draw attention to himself. I don’t think he should be dead either. He gambled with his life and lost.

  2. An ex con who did time for trafficking, Driving around on an infinitely suspended license in a car with missing plate and four bags and a jar of illegal drugs. He definitely was not about to let that cop open that car door and he sure as hell wasn’t going to get out. Why would a father of 13 kids decide to take a chance on his freedom and his life? He holds responsibility for his death. The cops holds responsibility for his arrest and incarceration if it comes to that. He should have called for backup when gangsta started to pull of, gotten the license plate and caught with him later. Guess who got the short end of the stick? My question is why would he gamble with his life with so many depending on him?

This murderer will walk just like all the other murdering cops. Waste of time and taxpayer money. We already know the verdict will be not guilty and the victim will be made out be the bad guy in court

    • Deters charged him because he did not believe his story that he was dragged. If on fact he was being dragged that would be a situation that could be potentially fatal . The guys at Reddit who are a lot more techsavvy than Cincy Police have found about twenty landmarks and changes of angle that show he was dragged. At 1.54 youcsn see his cruiser parked behind Sam’s vehicle. You can see it again about 1:56.
You can also see it at the time of the shot .There are substantial differences in the size ,angle and distance back to his cruiser. Also car is in 90 % shade at stop .At the shot the car is in full sun angle of sun is different.
Clouds do not move that far in 1.5 seconds

He also landed past a white street sign which can be seen in the beginning of the video.
The street sign is 6 guardrail sections up the road .
Per Ohio standards they are 6′ 3 ” therefore he was propelled forward by Sam’s car appx 35 ft.
Deters office Attorney Mike Piepmeier was informed of this Aug 2015 .
Its just a show folks ,elections coming ,ask yourself why is it two weeks before election.
They knew it was going to he an acquittal so how best to rile up the Democratic base
