A bronze bust of Bill Cosby has been removed from Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.
The statue had been a fixture at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. It sat in the TV section of the resort’s Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza, which also houses tributes to Oprah Winfrey and Lucille Ball, among other celebrities.
But NBC News reports the Cosby bust was taken down on Tuesday night, one day after unsealed court documents revealed that the veteran entertainer testified in 2005 to obtaining Quaaludes with the intention of drugging women in order to have sex with them. Dozens of women have come forward in the last year accusing the comedian of sexual assault.
An online petition calling for the statue’s removal had been circulating for months.
