Roland Martin talks to Sherrilyn Ifill, leader of the legal defense and education fund about what happens now that the #Selma50 celebrations are over.

“We’ve got three things we’ve got to do an we’ve go to do it this week. One is the confirmation vote for Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch. Secondly we need to have an amendment to the voting act,” Ifill said.

  1. I am sure that most people already have their elected official’s telephone numbers, emails and addresses, but for those that do not, I think it will be great if the TJMS would post the information on those politicians that did not vote in a favor of the Voting Rights Act.
    I believe that people such as the TJMS, Roland Martin and myself are responsible in spreading the word about how politics effect all of us; ESPECIALLY minorities.
    We may not always agree with our politicians but we are RESPONSIBLE in making sure they do their job. And if they fail to work in favor of The People, then it is The People’s job to vote them out. However, we cannot vote them out if our right to vote is hindered.
