On Norfolk State University grounds, police sent dogs to attack female student and Army Reserve private London Colvin. According to reports, she refused to answer any of their questions or give any information about a fight at a party she wasn’t even involved in. Right before the cops had the dogs charge at her, two of them sat on Colvin and then the dogs mauled her, according to eyewitnesses.

Colvin, a current Sociology major was leaving an off-campus party at 2:15 on a Sunday just as a fight erupted. She and her friends were approached by police about what happened or how it started and because she had nothing to do with it, she didn’t want care to have a discourse about it. The aftermath of her resistance has been shared through her cousin Whitney Dunn via the local paper Potomac Local. On Colvin’s behalf, Dunn said this:

“Her and her friends continued to walk, and she said that she definitely continued to be loud, however they were walking away. The two other police officers approached her – asked her to stop. Whatever the case may be, they had her down on the ground when the dog came. Two of the police officers restrained her on the ground, and then they allowed the dogs to attack her.”

This is awful. Since the weekend, the 21-year-old was sent to the hospital for her injuries and had to get 40 stitches on her leg. Pictures show that the dogs bit her brutally and blood and she suffered multiple open wounds.

Daniel Hudson, a Norfolk police spokesperson tried to diffuse and protect the actions of the disgusting policemen in explaining that dogs used towards difficult individuals is just protocol:

“We responded to a massive fight that happened in the street. Apparently there was a call for about 35 individuals who were partaking in a physical fight in the middle of the street. And once we have that multitude of people, we always have our canine officers respond out there with us for crowd management.”

So he’s using crowd management as the reasoning for the dogs being sent? But Colvin wasn’t at the party when they approached her; she was with just a few of her friends. Where’s the crowd? It would be nice for Hudson to explain with all the textbook answers he’s got, why the cops found it plausible to sit on Colvin so the dogs could attack. The Norfolk police are reckless with their authority and are using their dogs too freely. If they were so concerned with the party, they should’ve gone to the actual scene of the chaos. The whole thing just recalls how cops during the civil rights movement used the same vicious tactic to scare and hurt non-violent protestors and those images remain heartbreaking to see.

Colvin has been advised to not speak about the incident, but she wants to seek a legal team.

Dunn spoke further on how the family understands the need for force when situations get heightened, but to fire dogs to attack someone just for mouthing off was just too extreme:

“We can understand her getting arrested, because she was being disorderly or anything like that – however she didn’t have a weapon. She can’t put her hands up, or remove her hands from anywhere, or do anything because she’s being restrained by two police officers. So to allow the dog [to attack] is the only thing that we have a problem with.”

  1. If there is video, let her get to a lawyer. Hitting the government in the pocketbook and putting the elected officials who let their minions screw up should be put in jail. Involve the FBI. This sounds like a Section 1983 violation. People go to jail for that, and money damages are awarded that cannot be discharged in bankruptcy

  2. It’s not against the law to NOT answer questions from a police officer. This idiots need to lose their jobs over this. It sounds like abuse of power to me…. Pitiful…..

  3. racism is over. this is the era of colorblindness, right? this action was unrelated to the bias perceptions and preconceived notions of the black [wo]man in america’s eyes. this is heartbreaking.

Citizens of America I would highly recommend we all take a stand once and for all against police corruption. The best way to do so is to write to your state representative and complain about it.take a stand,Let them know fed up we are from all of this.Come Join M.A.C.C. (men against corrupted cops) in support, back each other up nationally and help dissolve the corrupted brutality quickly within the police forces and to help pass laws for every citizen in case we feel uncomfortable, unease and offended by a sudden attack by a cop so we can protect ourselves.we don’t deserve it so why should tolerate it? Together we stand, divided we fall remember that.I urge and encourage everyone that’s had enough to stand up and help defend our god given american rights that corrupted cops are attempting to take away with nonsense procedural excuses they literally use against us.please go to the website below, sign up and become a member.Support copblock in your local neighborhood, towns and cities.

Two words people–POLICE STATE. It’s here, it’s now and it’s being practiced daily; it just hasn’t been officially announced, except by the actions of the court system, particularly the SCOTUS.

  6. There’s at least one over-zealous cop in almost every precinct/department. Some claim they’re just going ‘by the book’. Most of them with this ‘authority complex’ are a danger to everybody.
About 15 years ago, there was a high speed chase that ended in a deadly accident in a town I used to live in. The cop was chasing the guy because of an unbuckled seat belt. True, the guy should’ve just pulled over, but why would the cop chase him for an unbuckled seat belt?
Cars riddled by bullets, roughed up, injured, or ‘accidentally’ killed suspects because of dangerous, over-zealous, authority junkies. Thinking they can whatever they want just because they wear/carry a badge. Weed out them and we’d have the best law enforcement in the world.

  7. The AmeriKan police and military are nothing but evil thugs who protect the elite and their bought and paid for sinister governments–with very few exceptions. The police in this situation clearly demonstrate this. What’s the difference between the actions of the Nazi Gestapo and the S.S., under HItler, and the brutal Bolsheviks, under Lenin, and the actions of the AmeriKan, and in particular, these Norfolk police. The answer is “Nothing.” Yet, the stupefied, hapless AmeriKan people accept this brutality and unconstitutional injustice and do nothing, lawfully, to stop it. There is no AmeriKan social consciousness opposed to evil, because the people themselves are evil, since they accept, allow, ignore, support and often profit from evil. Is it any wonder that the U.S. is the most hated nation on earth?

  8. very disturbing. the thought of anyone that is suppose to up hold the law can actually do this is outrageous. So you restrain her by holding her down ? what for did you read her , her rights ? yes she wasn’t in cuffs but since you had the for thought to sick your dogs{and that’s another thing IM outraged about } you must of thought she was trying to escape lol. NOW hers the other disturbing fact you used the dogs when there was no force needed for them .DO you even understand what you are doing when you do that????? for one your giving that dog the ability to attack for no just reason and to you should not have control of it if you yourself can not control your for thought as I said prior. SHAME ON YOU. this woman should sue and put a stipulation in there for someone with half a brain to have control over these highly trained dogs. we don’t train them to attack for no reason.
