A Georgia congressman is under fire after comments he made proposing that low-income children do some manual labor in exchange for their subsidized meals. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) said “Why don’t you have the kids pay a dime, pay a nickel or maybe sweep the floor of the cafeteria — — getting the myth out of their head that there is such a thing as a free lunch.” Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich made similar comments back in 2011.
