With all the new black networks in place, that means more black programming options. And that means more comedy shows on TV. Over-the-air network Bounce TV, the only black network currently available without a cable subscription, introduces their second original series “Uptown Comic,” hosted by Joe Torry. Shot at Atlanta’s Uptown Comedy Corner, the show will feature a half-hour of comedy skits and performances. Bounce has already announced their first original show “Family Time,” starring Angell Conwell and Omar Gooding as the Stallworths, a married couple with two kids who win the lottery.
“Uptown Comic” hopes to be a comedy sketch show in the “In Living Color” and “Mad TV” vein, more so than the “Comicview” model of just straight standup performances. Both shows debut tonight at 9 and 9:30 p.m.
