The wage gap in Hollywood has been a hot topic as of late, especially thanks to the whole Mark Wahlberg/Michelle Williams fiasco.

Remember, it was uncovered that the All the Money in the World actress was given $80 per diem for 10 days while Wahlberg got a whopping $1.5 million for reshooting the film after Kevin Spacey got kicked out of the film. Not to mention, she was paid $625,000 for her entire work while he took home $5 million.

But a new report from The Hollywood Reporter shows that this gender issue hits a little closer to home in Black Hollywood too.

During a behind-the-scenes at a #TimesUp meeting, a source told the entertainment publication that black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross makes a lot less than her TV hubby.

“According to a source who attended, the Wahlberg-Williams discrepancy was discussed at length, as was Tracee Ellis Ross getting paid significantly less than her Black-ish co-star Anthony Anderson,” the report said.

And because of it, the Golden Globe winner may devote less time on the hit comedy less if her contract for the fifth season doesn’t satisfy her needs.

“With negotiations for the fifth season ongoing, sources say Ellis Ross feels that if she isn’t brought up to Anderson’s level, she may opt to appear in fewer episodes to make up the disparity by guesting on another show. The tactic has split opinions within Time’s Up, with some worried that it’s more a retreat than a forward-looking solution (fitting in extra work isn’t always feasible, and often an actress wouldn’t earn as much guesting as she would as a network star),” THR said.

However. a source close to the show stresses that Anthony makes more than Tracee, because their roles overall roles are different.

“A network source says a new deal will significantly increase her compensation and cautioned that Anderson and Ellis Ross’ roles aren’t equal given that he has been attached to Black-ish from the start and is an executive producer.”

However, it’s not known if Ross has ever been offered a EP role. We just hope they do, she would be great at it!

In the end, we know Tracee is going to demand her worth!

  1. You’re paid as much as you negotiate. If you want more than what is offered, ask for it. If they won’t go higher, don’t take the job. Take your talent(s) elsewhere.

Just look at their filmographies. Naturally Anthony Anderson would have commanded a higher pay. He’s more experienced, more accomplished, and draws a bigger audience (therefore sells more commercial ads) than Ms. Ellis-Ross.

And this, by no means, is intended to dis’ her. This is in general. Because these comparative salaries in the news is disgusting. KNOW YOUR WORTH! before you sign a contract. Why complain later after it’s found out colleague(s) are earning more? Why wasn’t more asked for up front? Folks should be embarrassed that they sold themselves too cheaply.

SN: While listening to the news this morning, they were talking about the potential of a government shut down and they said that congress would still continue to get paid and other groups of people would still get paid, but the majority would not be funded. It seems to me, that if congress’s pay was in jeopardy, they would find a way to come to a resolution to keep the government opened for at least a year at a time at a minimum.
I just don’t get it; congress plays with the lives of people because it’s not costing them anything. And it’s all about politics, just like the 6 dems who sided with the GOP only did so because they are facing re-election this year. THESE PEOPLE, (the thugs or the dumb dems) DON’T GIVE A F**K ABOUT AMERICAN LIVES! We need to show them, we don’t give a f**k about theirs, VOTE THEIR A$$ES OUT.

  3. White men have been paid more in corporate America and will probably continue to while HR makes no explanation as oftentimes this information is supposedly kept confidential. Same job rarely same opportunity with unequal pay seems to be the norm. I don’t know why this subject comes as a surprise. What we need to do is reevaluate the salary, compensation packages and retirement packages our legislatures are receiving at our expense! While they down grade the benefits of the majority of its citizens healthcare yet sit back off our tax paying dollars what a travesty! Let them go get a real job too and demand to see Trump’s taxes!
