Just 14 percent of the dozens of practicing orthodontists in Mississippi are women – Dr. Chandra Minor is one of the them.

From a young age, Minor has always maintained an interest in health despite limited exposure early on. After earning a degree in biology from Alcorn State, Minor entered the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry.

The driven student continued her HBCU march by completing her postdoctoral orthodontic residency at Howard University.

In 2014, Minor opened her practice, Smile Design Orthodontics, in the town of Pearl. She is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and the Mississippi Dental Association.

Minor is accepting of her status as a role model, and credits her parents, hard work, and her faith as keys to her current success.
