The Roots mastermind Questlove has fired back at Fox News host Bill O’Reilly for his “slavery” comments following Michelle Obama’s DNC speech Monday night.

During her speech, the First Lady spoke about her family’s important place in American history and how they represent racial progress. “I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent, black young women, playing with their dogs on the White House lawn,” she said.

The next day, O’Reilly commented that “slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government,” which led to a widespread backlash.

On his IG account, Questlove took us to school about the horrors of slavery while blasting O’Reilly’s remarks, “I dunno if that man’s (never say his name) point is to troll at any cost whatsoever but his entire existence is … five steps backwards for any progress made in humanity,” the Roots drummer-producer wrote on Instagram.
