In a Wednesday White House press conference to discuss the recent Iranian nuclear deal, President Obama addressed the sexual assault allegations against comedian Bill Cosby, saying the accusations constitute rape.

When asked about a petition to revoke Cosby’s Medal of Freedom, Obama said there’s “no precedent for revoking a Medal.”

“We don’t have that mechanism,” he continued. “And as you know, I tend to make it a policy not to comment on the specifics of cases where there might still be, if not criminal, but civil issues involved. I’ll say this. If you give someone, a woman — or a man for that matter — a drug and then have sex with that person without consent, that’s rape.”

Last week, a previously sealed deposition revealed that Cosby admitted to giving drugs to women with whom he intended to have sex. So far, more than three dozen women have accused Cosby of sexual misconduct.

The president did not accuse Cosby of rape in his short statement.
