Out of all the artists featured in this month’s #Forward20 Black Music Month celebration you probably know Lion Babe the least.

But trust us, you should.

The duo is lead by singer Jillian Hervey, the daughter of Ramon Hervey and actress Vanessa L. Williams and her band mate Lucas Goodman.

Formed in New York City in 2012, the group’s melodic sound and Hervey’s clear, distinctive, soulful tone often lends people to compare the group to neo-soul queen Erykah Badu.

They hopped on the scene with Treat Me Like Fire back in 2012:

It was followed up with the track Jump Hi with rapper and actor Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover.

Their debut album is set to be released later this year.
