ATLANTA (AP) — Rapper Rick Ross is facing kidnapping and assault charges after a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force and deputies arrested him at his mansion outside Atlanta.

Jim Joyner, a supervisor with the Marshals’ Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, tells The Associated Press that Ross and a man described as his bodyguard were taken into custody Wednesday morning in Fayette County.

Joyner said Ross — whose real name is Williams Roberts — was being held in the Fayette County jail on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery. The bodyguard, whose name wasn’t released, faces the same charges.

According to TMZ.com, the charges stem from the alleged pistol-whipping of a groundskeeper at Ross’ Fayetteville, GA property, one that was previously owned by boxer Evander Holyfield. The weapon of choice was a Glock 9MM handgun.

Ross and his bodyguard, now identified as Nadrian James, were booked and will be held without bail for a couple of weeks until their paperwork reaches Fayette County Superior Court. The groundskeeper is reported to have significant injuries to his jaw and neck.

It wasn’t known early Wednesday whether Ross has an attorney in the case.
