A judge in Sandy Springs, Ga. last week sentenced a sanitation worker to 30 days behind bars for, well, starting work too early, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV.

The worker, Kevin McGill, told the news station last week that he was fresh on the job when he was cited recently for picking up trash just after 5 a.m. one morning while working for a company contracted to do sanitation work. When he appeared in court, chief prosecutor Bill Riley asked the judge to sentence him to 30 days in jail, the report notes.

WSB-TV reports:

The city solicitor says he’s tried everything to get sanitation workers to stop coming to communities before 7 a.m. He says he’s tried fining the companies they work for, but it doesn’t work; so now he’s decided to haul them off to jail.

“The solicitor said it’s automatic jail time. He didn’t want to hear nothing I had to say. I said it’s my first time,” sanitation worker Kevin McGill told WSB-TV’s Tom Jones.

McGill, who didn’t have an attorney with him when he was sentenced, is serving his time on the weekend.

McGill appeared in court without an attorney the first time around. Now he has an attorney, Kimberly Bandoh, who wants to know why her client was punished, the report says. She’s not the only one.

Sandy Springs is a GOP laden, upper middle class white community in which the Mayor, Police and usual authorities cater to those aforementioned individuals. Once somebody came outside of their house and found out the sanitation worker was black they went into attack mode. And, as usual, the judge, prosecutor and his cohorts complied.

Only because he was in a lily White community and they did not wish to be disturbed so early in the morning!

This guy should fight tnis-they’re putting him in jail for thirty days just because he was simply doing his job!!!!!
