It’s the end of 2014 and 2015 is just around the corner. I’m excited and ready for a number of reasons. Are you? Might as well finish this year strong, release whatever and whoever is holding you back or down so that you can fly in 2015!

The only way to get what you really want is to let go of what you don’t want. In order to get where you want and need to go, you must recognize what’s working well in your life, hold on to that and build it up. Release what’s not working well in your life so that you are free to move forward.

Change is not always easy, but you have the ability to decide what’s possible. Circumstances such as kids, finances and relationships may impact us, but if you really want something more and believe that you can change your life, you can. The important thing is to have a vision and then support it with a plan.

Once you have clarity and you’re ready to move forward, anything and anybody that’s negative, that’s weighing you down or holding you back must go.

There are some people, situations and lifestyles that drain your time and energy. They simply don’t work for your life anymore. It may be hard to dismiss them completely. The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to be rude or ugly but you can distance yourself for your own sanity. Save yourself!

Here are my Deya Directives to help you let go and go up:

  • Give Yourself Permission for a Break – The stories that we tell ourselves or accept from others are what we choose to believe. Are you telling yourself that you don’t have enough time to take care of you? What do you need to do to change that? How can you rearrange the dynamics in your life to get more of what you need?

Today, give yourself permission to get what you need. Your life is worth living, which is why you need to figure out the things that refresh you and do them as much as possible. Is it a massage, working out regularly, taking a long hot bath or shower? Whatever it is, go for it to help you relax.

  • Free Yourself – Release what’s not enhancing your life (beliefs, unforgiveness, freedom to be authentic,). Free up the clutter in your life and in your mind. When you put things in order, it frees up space. Like when you clean up, you feel better. You can accomplish more and think clearer. Free yourself up from the big picture, low enough to do things in bite sizes. Baby steps are still steps. Freeing up is about putting your life in order, letting go of the need to do everything at one time and completing things so that you can free yourself up to do other things. Nobody can do everything well at the same time. Also, free yourself up to think you have to do everything by yourself. Ask others for help so that you can concentrate on what you really do well.
  • Fly High and Affirm Yourself – It’s fuel to keep you going and push you forward. Why wait for a compliment? Release the need for someone else to recognize your worth. When it comes, it will be an added bonus but not a revelation.

And for the record, I realize that you don’t love EVERYTHING about yourself. No one does. But guess what? Consider the people in your life that you love, who you sacrifice for, including your own children. Do you love absolutely everything about them, how they look, what they do, what they wear, and their attitude? Of course not, but you still give them your undying love.

Secondly, by identifying the positive characteristics that you love about yourself, you will exude that “oomph” and others will be drawn to it. Likewise, if you feel bad about yourself, others will too. And they will feel justified in treating you badly – taking advantage of you, disrespecting you and more.

Remember, you have the power to set the tone for how people interact with you. It all begins with how you interact with yourself. As church folk say, sometimes you’ve got to encourage yourself.

So are you ready for a fresh start? What do you need to cut out of your life so that you can begin again, get free, be light and limber? Letting go of something, be it hair, a relationship or a job, does not have to be a negative. Sometimes you just need a change, something new, fun, exciting and different.  Go get it! 2015 is waiting on you.
