A key witness interview involving the deadly shooting of Missouri teen Michael Brown was not among the thousands of pages of documents released by the St. Louis County prosecutors surrounding the Darren Wilson grand jury. The transcript and audio of the FBI and county police interview involving Brown’s friend Dorian Johnson was not in the over 5,700 pages of documents the Associated Press searched through according to USA Today. Johnson was with the teen when Wilson, a Ferguson police officer shot and killed him after the two were walking in a neighborhood and were approached by him. A grand jury failed to indict Wilson for Brown’s death.
In the first round of documents, seven video clips of Johnson’s media interviews with the press along with transcripts of his testimony to the grand jury were given to the public. The transcripts, which started to be released 2 weeks ago, detailed jurors being played the Aug. 13 interview Johnson had with federal and county investigators. However, the documents the public received do not include a separate transcript of the interview. When asked about the missing information, spokesman for St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCullouch, who served on the case, Ed Magee stated:
If it’s not there, it’s not there. I don’t know what was released.
Come again? Magee did admit copies of FBI interviews with witnesses were purposely not released by the request of the Justice Department due to an ongoing civil right’s inquiry into Brown’s shooting death.
