My name is Sheena Mason and i am a dance instructor here in Akron, Ohio.   I would like to request a Christmas Wish for a very special little girl who was a dance student of mine for several years.   Her name is Emani Myers and she is only eight years-old.   Emani battles with Ebstein’s Anomaly, a rare congenital heart defect caused by a malformed heart valve that does not properly close to keep the blood flow moving in the right direction.

Emani has braved many extended hospital stays, as well as several open heart surgeries.   Just recently, her doctors have said that her heart is becoming more overtaxed due to an enlarged right atrium and rapid heart rate.   They recommend that her family have on hand an aed- automated external defibrillation, a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and if needed, can send an electric shock to restore normal rhythm.

Tom, Emani’s doctors have sent numerous letters to the insurance company requesting an aed, but to no avail.  The family has tried to save money over the past couple years in order to buy one, but has not been successful.   it is my Christmas Wish to ask you to grant the aed for the Myer’s should their daughter need lifesaving help.

Thank you, Sheena Mason
