It’s something that we all struggled to make sense of – the killing of 20 pupils and six adults by a gunman at an elementary school in late December. The senseless tragedy – especially at a time the focus was on good will and good cheer – was difficult for adults to deal with but even more challenging was having to explain the inexplicable to their children.
I turned to transformational coach Kim R. Grimes for some help. Kim specializes in motivating the teen spirit through “high energy” messages and coaching sessions which inspire youth to “shake off mediocrity” and “live up to their greatness.”
In my discussion with Kim, we talk about the importance of creating a safe joy for you and your child, how to raise your child’s self esteem and what we can now do to not only help the babies of Sandy Hook Elementary but those in our community and around the world.
