NEW YORK (AP) — A quip by Al Roker may have hit too close to home for NBC's "Today" show team.

Roker, Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Tamron Hall were wrapping up an interview with members of the U.S. women's rowing team on "Today" Thursday, when the tradition of a winning team throwing their coxswain into the water was discussed.

Lauer mentioned how the tradition in New York is to throw her into the Hudson River.

Quipped Roker: "Which is different than our tradition, which is you throw one of us under the bus, but that's another story."

Lauer and Guthrie then playfully scolded Roker.

"Today" dumped co-anchor Ann Curry less than two months ago.

I guess the truth does hurt. I liked Ann Curry in her role as co-anchor. I’m not crying for her, though. She’s getting paid royally to serve in another role at the channel. In the end it’s going to work out fine for everyone.

I applaud you for publically writing what I lacked the courage to write even though it was off the subject. As a long time supporter and listener as well, I am very disappointed with Tom, Sybil and Jay. It started to go south when Myra, Miss Dupree and Melvin were no more. A few years ago I read where Tom’s audiance had diminished with folks opting to tune in to his competitor. My mother used to tell me to look in the mirror whenever I had the urge to talk about someone. As you pointed out, something negative can be said about each of them. As far as that part is concerned, something negative can be said about every person on the the planet. That was mom’s point. I continue to tune in but I listen very discriminately. I turn off the banter. Tom’s foundation does a lot of good. Even so, there is another major organization that does what he does. I long for the days when their broadcasts managed to balance intellectual content and humor that didn’t defame others. Here’s one perosn who agrees with you whole heartedly. Again, bravo!!!!!!!

Al knows what’s up. He has worked with Matt long enough to know him well. I Matt Lauer is a serious ego maniac. He is arrogant and has grown more so since acquiring the anchor chair. Cohost Savanah Guthrie lacks characteristics that make her appealing. She comes across snobby and emotionless. Though she seems very smart, I just can’t embrace her. Natalie is a nice lady. She is improving her craft. I love Tamron Hall. I dare Matt Lauer to come incorrect with her. My allegiance to “Today” has ended with Ann’s departure.

on a different subject i have been listening to the tjms show for nearly 15 years each morning but lately i have become discourage with them especially when they love to talk about other people,s looks jay looks like biggie small sybil looks like a big blow up doll tom looks like a half white man which he is and the ghetto sounding lady that comes on his show she sounds so ghetto i have to turn his show off and her name is dominique so we all need to stop talking about how people look and take a look at ourselves and to mind our own business which by the way takes 24 hours so how can we find time to mess in others i,m just saying my own opinion which i am intitiled to
