We often tend to lump osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis into the same category because they both include the term “arthritis” in their names, but make no bones about it, the two couldn’t be more different. Although both affect the joints, they do so very differently. According to the Mayo Clinic, in osteoarthritis (OA), which usually occurs as a result of age, cartilage between joints has worn away over time and bones rub together causing pain and stiffness. In rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an autoimmune disease, the body attacks the tissues in the joints, which in turn leads to inflammation, pain and stiffness.

What You Need to Know:

August is National Black Business Month, a time to acknowledge and recognize the contributions of Black-owned businesses and their role in advancing diversity and equality. From local neighborhood stores to startups and renowned enterprises, Black entrepreneurs have shown exceptional creativity and business know-how, overcoming countless obstacles on the road to success.

According to Census data, metro Atlanta has the highest proportion of Black-owned businesses than any other metro in the country. But nationally, just 2.4% of employer firms are Black-owned. Efforts are being made by many larger corporations to improve these numbers through investment, both financially and with other valuable resources. But there are th
