WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Sunday compared people entering the U.S. from Mexico to invaders and said they should be immediately sent back without appearing before a judge.

The American Civil Liberties Union said in response that such a step would be illegal and violate the Constitution that Trump swore to uphold,

“We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country,” the president said on Twitter as he was being driven to his private golf club in Northern Virginia. “When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order.”

“Most children come without parents … Our Immigration policy, laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years!” he continued. “Immigration must be based on merit – we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!”

“What President Trump has suggested here is both illegal and unconstitutional,” said Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project. “Any official who has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws should disavow it unequivocally.”

Trump has been criticizing immigration judges for weeks, both exaggerating the number currently hearing cases and saying that hiring more — as some members of Congress have proposed — would be unnecessary.

Trump made his anti-illegal immigration stance a centerpiece of his presidential campaign and he has pushed for strict policies since taking office. He said during a campaign appearance Saturday in Las Vegas that being for “strong borders, no crime” is a winning issue for Republicans to run on in November’s congressional elections.

But he bowed to public pressure last week and reversed a policy of separating adults and children who enter the U.S. illegally together at the border with Mexico, though his “zero-tolerance” policy of criminally prosecuting all illegal border-crossers remains.

The House is expected to vote on immigration legislation this week, though its fate is uncertain.

Trump told House Republicans last week that he was “100 percent” behind the effort but tweeted days later that they were “wasting their time” voting before the midterm elections.

About a dozen protesters gathered at the entrance to Trump’s club Sunday afternoon as he prepared to leave, including a woman holding a sign that said “Trump Should Be Caged” and a man wrapped in a Mylar blanket. Some of the separated children were seen using the blankets on government-distributed video of their holding conditions.

Further up the road, a lone man stood with a sign with Trump’s headshot and the words “Thank You.”

  1. These illegals with the same story like a broken record are both “illegal and unconstitutional,” they’re coming here like roaches thinking an AMNESTY is coming for all the illegals here in America already!

  2. Illegals don’t care one bit about their children being separated from them at the border. They know that they will be fed, schooled, clothed and given the best medical treatment, which is more than they could ever get at home. If my family was being threatened with death and torture at the hands of violent gang members, I ‘d do the same thing. I’d do everything within my power to protect my children. Even it meant coming to the U.S. illegally and using us as glorified babysitters. I don’t know what all the anger is about. This is exactly what these people were counting on. Now, if they are immediately put on a boat, plane or bus and sent back where they came from, then you’d you’d see some miserable migrants. All I see on the faces of the illegals stepping off of buses now is the relief of not having to worry about how they’re going to provide for their children.

@kates1221, Mexicans DESPISE African-Americans; if u truly knew that in their hearts they think African-Americans are the SCUM of the Earth. They teach their daughters ‘No! hombre negro! muy malo!, albeit African-Americans, as Tax Payers, are ALSO paying to feed, clothe & provide those things to them & their children, which u mentioned

I agree with “tobefair”; “Pamela” and “Kaci”…I reluctantly agree with Trump. Hispanics did not join with African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement, however they are the RECIPIENTS of Equal Education, Busing, Right To Vote, and so on & so on!

Illegal aliens are ‘invaders.’ Just look up La Raza and ‘reconquista.’ This has been a tactic of theirs for years. I’m glad the president is a white Republican so black people will start paying attention.

  5. Let me start by saying I continue to be a wild card politically because I’m not going to vote Democratic nor Republican because of how I feel each party don’t care about black people but for their votes. But I support this move. There’s a cost factor to housing these illegal immigrants and tax payers will be paying for it. Don’t waste our tax dollars. And with that court case that says you can’t separate parents from children for a long period of time, this seems like the best alternative especially since Hollywood and Dems are crying about separating families. Keep them together and deport them together. Be careful who you praise and support, these Hollywood types are pushing for immigrants in ways they don’t support blacks.

I cannot stand Trump however I agree, send them back without due process! My tax dollars shouldn’t be spent on anyone breaking laws.

  7. Chump is denying the so called “invaders,” their due process.
Either he is too DUMB to know this-or he simply does not CARE!!!!!!!!

They are not American citizens, they dont have the same rights, no due process is necessary. Yes keep them together for certain and either create better ways for citizenship for people who are escaping dire circumstances. But they are using tax payer dollars that are needed for our citizens. I truly HATE trump but I can’t support people who consciously break the law. I really feel bad because i wouldn’t want to trade places with them. I hope they can work this out.
