Protests Break Out In Charlotte After Police Shooting

After Keith Lamont Scott was fatally gunned down by police, the governor of North Carolina, Pat McCroy has declared a state of emergency amid violent protests in Charlotte.

The governor expressed to many media outlets that he ‘wants to support police:’

Late Wednesday night, reports surfaced that one protester shot in the demonstrations is in critical condition, while a cop was injured in the altercations, according to CNN.

We previously reported protests erupted in Charlotte after Keith Lamont Scott, 43 was fatally wounded by police. Eyewitnesses said he was reading a book in his car, while police claim he was wielding a gun when shots were fired.

Protesters took to the streets in the wake of the tragedy, shutting down Interstate 85 and looting a Walmart, according to local news site WCNC.
