R&B recording artist Candice Boyd sat down to discuss black music and how it has impacted her as an artist. “Growing up my musical influences were Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige,” said Boyd. She also gives credit to TLC and Destiny’s Child for inspiring her to pursue a music career. When asked what makes her unique as an artist, Boyd believes that it is her ability to be real. “I really don’t know how to put on a facade. To be real and to be felt, that sets me aside.”
