Maino’s girlfriend, model Maggie Carrie Heckstall, intends to sue the New York Police Department for allegedly harassing her and stressing her out after the May 25 shooting at a T.I. concert in Irving Plaza. Heckstall, who was shot in the leg, says the police have been at the hospital since she was admitted, and have denied her family visitation while they question her about the shooting.

“[Police] want to investigate and we get that, but don’t make her life miserable because she took a stray bullet,” her lawyer Emel McDowell says. “We understand the NYPD is doing their job, but she’s not under investigation. She’s not in custody for the crime. She didn’t ask for police protection. She’s obviously a victim in this. They’re making her life worse by doing this.”

Vibe reports that a cease-and-desist letter was sent to the police May 26, claiming Heckstall’s Fourth Amendment right is being violated. Additionally, the NYPD’s investigation is impeding her recovery — she had a metal rod inserted into her leg.

Maggie was one of four victims shot at the event, including Ronald McPhatter who was killed, and the thug shooter Troy Ave, who accidentally shot himself in the leg.
