Tyler Perry is the narrator of FOX’s two-hour live musical, The Passion, which tells the 2000-year-old story of the last hours of Jesus Christ’s life on earth, but with a modern twist. Live from New Orleans, The Passion also features celebrity cameos from Seal, Yolanda Adams, Chris Daughtery and Trisha Yearwood.
Tyler talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about why he joined the project and he speaks on those pesky rumors that he and Oprah are beefing.
“This show has never been done here in America. Its being told in modern day times. Instead of sandals and robes these guys are in jeans and Jordan’s.”
On the rumored beef with Oprah:
“People think that black people can’t get along. Not one thing in that story is true. I was talking to Oprah yesterday and she said we set ourselves up from this. From the beginning we said the friendship is the most important thing, so that’s what they attack.”
The Passion airs live Sunday, March 20 at 8p/7p CST.
