…the grieving person on her own. Instead, just listen. Let the person scream, cry and express herself. Just having someone physically there goes a long way. Sometimes, I just need someone to sit next to me and watch TV.

Just as important is what not to say: No one wants to hear: “At least you had a kid.” “You’re not a mother unless the child is here.” “You can try again.” Or, “you will be OK. You’ll get over it.”

And I have a message for anyone who has been through what I’ve been through: You are not alone. You are a mother. You had a child.

We deserve to be recognized, we deserve a voice, and we deserve to celebrate the little life that we carried. A life that was gone too soon.
