Lisa Bonet may have a solid opinion on sexual assault and drugging allegations leveled at her TV dad Bill Cosby, but according to her daughter Zoë Kravitz, don’t expect her to talk about the situation anytime soon.
“She hasn’t, she really hasn’t.” Kravitz told The Guardian when asked if her mom had spoken to her about Cosby’s situation.
“She’d plead the fifth, even to me,” the 26-year-old entertainer added. “I think she’s just staying out of it.”
Despite silence maintained by Bonet, Kravitz did note that the former “The Cosby Show” star is appalled by Cosby’s behavior.
“She’s just as disgusted and concerned as everyone else is,” the “Dope” star said. “But I don’t think she has any insight. It’s news to her as well.”
Bonet’s history with Cosby is one filled with ups and downs. According to The New York Daily News, the 47-year-old’s time with the embattled comedian goes back to when she was a part of “The Cosby Show” for several seasons before leaving to star in the popular spin-off “A Different World” in 1987.
Bonet’s time on that show lasted only a year as she ultimately left “A Different World” when she became pregnant with Zoë. Bonet’s return to “The Cosby Show” came in 1989. Prior to the final season of the show, Bonet was fired. Despite reports of Cosby’s disapproval of her personal and professional choices being the reason for her falling out with Cosby, Bonet has chosen to keep her thoughts on multiple allegations against Cosby private.
As for people who are skeptical about Bonet knowing nothing about Cosby’s alleged incidents, Kravitz voiced an understanding of how it may come across in the court of public opinion.
“Of course. She was on the show for a long time. She’s also a beautiful woman. It makes people wonder,” Kravitz stated.
“She’s a very straightforward person. If there was something she felt the world needed to know that would help this case or help any women who had been abused, she would say something.”
