Ellen DeGeneres gives out a lot of gifts and money on her talk show, but one of the largest checks in the history of her program took place on today’s episode.

Grab a tissue.

Carlotta Brown, the principal of Peck Elementary School in Houston, “works seven days a week dedicating her life to students who are mostly poor or homeless,” Ellen said, introducing the segment on her show.

Ellen got wind of a report on Houston’s KHOU-TV Channel 11 news late last month about about a Homeless Outreach Center housed on the campus, and contacted Brown to see if she could feature the school on the talk show.

Of course, Ellen (and Target) had more in store for Brown than just the school being featured on the show.

Peck ended up getting a $100,000 check, among the largest she’s ever given away. The reveal sent Brown and the students into hysterics.

Moments later, Brown herself, whose husband is suffering from pancreatic cancer, got $10,000 for her own household.
