When Marie Holmes woke up Thursday morning, she was $188 million dollars richer. The single mother of four, including a child with cerebral palsy, was unemployed and looking for work after jobs at Wal-Mart and McDonalds proved unfeasible because of her kids.

Everything is for them. All the struggles that I went through it was all for them,” Holmes told “I just want them to understand that money doesn’t change you. It can help you. They don’t have to worry about that. They can go to college, on me. And they don’t have to worry about nothing. I’m glad I can do that for them.”

The first thing she plans to do with the money – tithe. She told CBS 6 in North Carolina that without God, she would have never had the blessing. She says she is grateful that she won so that she can help her family, but wishes the grandmother who helped raise her could have lived to see her windfall.

The resident of Shallote, North Carolina, a coastal town, says she is heading to Raleigh to consult financial advisors about the best options for her windfall, before she even turns in the ticket.
