Actor Evan Ross has a famous mother, a famous sister and a famous wife. Fortunately he’s doing big things, too. The son of Diana Ross, brother to Tracee Ellis Ross and new husband to Ashlee Simpson, Ross, 26, is starring in the latest incarnation of The Hunger Games franchise The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1. He says its been a great experience given how fans respond to the movies.

“It’s unbelievable,” Ross says. “I can’t even believe the whole thing of it. Now, especially with the premiere, you really get to see the amount of people who love this movie and how big it is. It’s just something else and I’m really glad to be a part of it.”

Ross is already well known to Black moviegoers from his roles in ATL and Pride, but Mockingjay will introduce him to a global audience on a whole nother level.

“As much as you know how big this is and what it is, until you’re actually a part of it, and around it, you don’t realize the love people have for this film. It’s just a different kind of thing It’s like the Jackson 5 this movie.”

Interestingly enough, Ross says that very little of Mockingjay was done via green scene, the backdrops that allow for special effects to be edited in.

“They built these worlds around us,” Ross explains. “I don’t think people really realize that when we step into these scenes all the little pieces to the bigger pieces are created for us, so we walk into these worlds that are in front of us. It was unbelievable. You can’t help but feel a part of it. At no part were we shooting on a stage where it felt like there were things that weren’t real. Its incredible that they could even do that.”

As for his marriage to singer Simpson, its obviously going well. The newlyweds are enjoying newlywed life.

“She’s sleeping right now,” Ross says. “There’s nothing better than that – having someone to be your partner for the rest of your life.”
