Antoine Fuqua may have lost Eminem, but he’s gained 50 Cent for “Southpaw.”

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, the rapper has signed on to join Forest Whitaker and Jake Gyllenhaal in the boxing drama.

Fiddy will play a boxing promoter who’s part of Gyllenhaal’s character’s entourage.

Written by “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter, “Southpaw” centers around a left-handed welterweight boxer who becomes a champion before experiencing tragedy that negatively affects the life of his young daughter. The boxer, who was originally set to be played by Eminem before he was replaced by Gyllenhaal, later finds the determination to make a comeback.

Whitaker will co-star in the film as Titus ‘Tick’ Willis, a former fighter forced to retire after losing an eye. In addition to 50 Cent, Whitaker and Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams will come aboard “Southpaw” as a female lead.

Page Six also noted that Lupita Nyong’o was reportedly being courted by the film’s producers for a role. Assuming she does join the cast, the Oscar winner will play a social worker whose job is to ensure the healthy well-being of the daughter of Gyllenhaal’s character.

Production for “Southpaw” is currently underway in Pittsburgh.
