NEW YORK (AP) — The Oprah Winfrey Network says it plans to produce a documentary series following the life of Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team.

The series will take an up-close look at the man recently drafted by the St. Louis Rams in a groundbreaking moment in professional sports. Cameras will follow the former University of Missouri football player as he works to earn a spot on the Rams while under a media microscope.

Sam says it would be great if his story can lead others to accept who they are and go for their dreams.

OWN did not specify a premiere date for the as-yet-untitled series or how many episodes it will be.

I guess Oprah is trying to appeal to her Gay viewers, Sams have not played a down of Football yet he has been elevated to rock star status, Why? because he is Gay. The media and news print have elevated being Gay to an almost Cult like status and one better not express a personal opinion against this life style in this politically correct America, the world will stop the person is immediately ridiculed, label a homophobic and a demand that you and the world accept their life style or else. If that is ones life style, fine However,I am getting sick and tired of being sick and tired of the daily barrage of the Gay life style being forced on everyone, your personal opinion and feelings be dammed.

    • I totally agree. What about his life could possibly be worth sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and watching on tv? Hell, the fact that he was drafted by the NFL as a gay player was a big media story only because he and his man made a spectacle of the whole ordeal by kissing and licking cake of each other. Surely Okra can find more interesting programming to broadcast.
