President Barack Obama will speak directly to Black Americans this week, which I believe is part of the President’s ongoing crusade to outline a national social agenda to uplift citizens of color. Obama is scheduled to headline Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network (NAN) conference in New York April 9th through April 12th.

The President’s appearance at Sharpton’s conference comes as Sharpton has been speaking out about several high-profile racial cases involving black teenagers being killed by whites or dying under mysterious circumstances. Sharpton has also been vocal about voting rights and GOP suppression tactics, and the ongoing assault on Obama by congressional Republicans.

As a co-host for Sharpton’s national radio program, Keeping it Real with Rev. Al Sharpton, I have listened to Sharpton talk passionately about the significance of Obama speaking at his conference, but it is also true that Obama considers Sharpton a powerful voice for justice in the black community – and someone Obama takes seriously.

In his second term in office, I believe the president is focused more boldly –and more specifically – on uplifting African-Americans while creating a social agenda that benefits Black people. Each month, it seems, the president is using his White House bully pulpit to talk more about social justice issues, economic and health reforms – and how these policies impact African-Americans and Hispanics.

On Thursday, Obama will speak at the University of Texas, which is hosting a three-day Civil Rights Summit this week to mark the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act. The summit will look back at the civil rights movement and address contemporary racial issues.

Could Obama be looking ahead to his legacy with two years remaining in the White House? Last month at the White House, Obama met with several civil rights leaders including Sharpton about raising the minimum wage, black unemployment, health care, voting rights and education.

“We talked extensively about the challenges of unemployment, the challenges of under-employment, the challenges of black and urban and brown unemployment in this nation,” Marc Morial, president of The National Urban League, told reporters after the meeting with Obama and U.S Attorney Eric Holder.

“It was helpful to us to hear the president and his team clarify some misconceptions about the Affordable Care Act, one (being) that it adds to the deficit when all the projections are that it will reduce the deficit,” Morial said.

Since that meeting, Obama also unveiled “My Brother’s Keeper Initiative,” a national program designed to improve the quality of life for young African American boys.

“The plain fact is there are some Americans who, in the aggregate, are consistently doing worse in our society—groups that have had the odds stacked against them in unique ways that require unique solutions; groups who’ve seen fewer opportunities that have spanned generations,” Obama said in February. “And by almost every measure, the group that is facing some of the most severe challenges in the 21st century in this country are boys and young men of color.”

The president has also vowed to create an environment where all African-American students receive an education that fully gets them ready for high school graduation, college completion and productive careers in a highly competitive global job market.

In January, in an article published in the New Yorker, Obama talked candidly about his blackness.

“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a Black president,” Obama said. “Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a Black president.”

Obama is boldly telling his truth—and I’m eager to hear it.

Help me understand something so Obama is good at one time speeches , he is good at making speeches, all talk no action Obama. Lets check facts all his rhetorics from a prompter yelling “Yes WE Can ??? Can What ???? Berating Moorhouse Grads . What has he done for Blacks?? 19% unemployment? Taking Care of Gays and Lesbians for sure , spending all his time with Beyonce, Jay Z ,Sharpton , Tom Joyner ,Ophra does not make him pro- african American. Obama never even campaigned in Black Hoods during his second term re-election stint !! He took Blacks for granted, and he made sure that Gays & Lesbians, Hollywood, and White Liberals were taken care of Remember The MLK Monument outsourced to China by Johnson, Al Sharpton , and all Obama Black supporters ??? Recall when Chinese contractor, and workers were granted work permit by Obama to erect monument in Washington DC , and only one Black Laborer was hired to work for the Chinese erecting The MLK statue???? Where was Black America ???? And now Obama want’s to grant 30 Million illegal Aliens Green Cards so that they can continue taking jobs from Blacks??? is this a man you can count on???? Now he wants Black support for Democrats for the midterm elections that is why he is palying con games with Blacks. Obama is lying double crossing self serving elitist light skinned Mulatto

Obama is a HUGE abortion supporter….makes you wonder…. – In 2012, there were more black babies killed by abortion (31,328) in New York City than were born there (24,758), and the black children killed comprised 42.4% of the total number of abortions in the Big Apple, according to a report by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

In Georgia, 53.6% of the Babies Aborted Are Black. Those numbers come from the 2010 Abortion Surveillance report issued by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), the latest year for data on abortion available from the agency.

The initiative exposes Planned Parenthood’s history of eugenic racism and unaltered present. Today, more than 40% of black pregnancies end in abortion nationwide.

Obama LOVES planned parenthood…. Planned Parenthood receives record amount of taxpayer support. Planned Parenthood reported receiving a record $542 million in taxpayer support in fiscal 2012, marking a steady increase in government funding despite Republican-led efforts at the state and federal levels to cut off that stream.

“The most obvious practitioner of racism in the United States today is Planned Parenthood, an organization founded by the eugenicist Margaret Sanger and recently documented as ready to accept money to eliminate black babies” – Dr. Alveda King

Planned Parenthood’s 800 clinics receive more than 300 million dollars of taxpayer money annually. It is unacceptable for a nonprofit to accept donations that target specific races, but Planned Parenthood does exactly that. The calls unearthed a Planned Parenthood program that poses a threat to minority communities. Many centers set up “women in need” or “justice” funds designating money specifically for minority abortions. With more than 79% of clinics in minority neighborhoods, and more than 1400 black abortions daily, these programs are doing precisely what our actor asked them to do. Planned Parenthood is (intentionally or not) exterminating the black community.

  4. I understand why the president is attending Rev Al’s conference; after all he is probably the President’s greatest apologist. However, it still doesn’t hide the fact the Rev Al is a government snitch who was flipped by the FBI when he was trying to broker a deal to bring cocaine into NYC. Guess who the primary users and victims of the associated trade would have been? Then when he was flipped, his first target was Don King; another “brother” that I’m sure the Rev was trying to help. His actions and false accusations also caused the massacre/death of 7 people in the Freddie’s Fashion Mart affair, false accusations in the Tawana Brawley case, and riots in Crown Heights. I know, no big deal, just little lies amongst friends. While he is to be commended for “speaking out about several high-profile racial cases involving black teenagers being killed by whites or dying under mysterious circumstances”. The real threat to black teens/men is other black teens/men in cities all across America on a daily basis. So when they are finished with this conference, he should take the show on the road to the people who need to hear it the most.

Mr. President…holla at your girl!! Spot on! President Obama, you have hit the nail on the head. The message you are about to deliver is what America, not just Black America, needs to hear. Those of us who hear the message need to spread his words out into our commnity. We need to talk about it in our homes, churches and schools. It needs to be discussed at work, at lunch and at the club. It needs to be kicked around at the barber shops and beauty salons. We need to talk, then take action to bring about the change our president envisions. Join me in praying for President Obama. God bless you Mr. President and the God Bless the United States of America.
