Dayo Okeniyi (“The Hunger Games”) has landed a pivotal role in “Terminator: Genesis,” a reboot of the franchise for Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures. The studios will film three installments, with the second and third films shooting back to back over nine months.

Okeniyi will play a Steve Jobs-type genius named Danny Dyson, who figures heavily into the conclusion of the film, reports Deadline.com. He is also the son of the brainiac cyborg developer Miles Dyson, played by Joe Morton in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” Young Dyson holds the key to technology development that makes Skynet possible.

The first film gets underway shortly in Louisiana.

The film has a July 1, 2015 release date.
