Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is many things: Entrepreneur, entertainer, wife and mother among them. One thing she is not, however, is a “whore.”

Apparently, shocked parents felt differently after her sexually charged Grammy performance with her mogul husband JAY Z. So, British newspaper UK Metro decided to run the following disrespectful headline, quoting upset viewers: “‘Whore’ Beyoncé angers parents with raunchy act.”

The paper goes on to quote parents who, in addition to the w-word, called the mother of one trashy and classless for her performance.

Read more from UK Metro:

Bey was hit with a barrage of criticism on the web when she took a leaf out of Rihanna’s book by spreading her legs on a chair in a G-string before she came undone during an apparent wardrobe malfunction.

Horrified viewer Mandy Flores wrote on Facebook: ‘Aren’t u a mother now!!? Thought u had class, how trashy and I couldn’t even let my 8 year old watch. U have never done anything like that! So disappointed.’

Others quickly reached for the remote control, with JJ Boogie tweeting: ‘Opening Grammy song performance inappropriate for young children. Thank you Beyonce. #ChannelChange.’

Another horrified woman said the 32-year-old mum looked like a ‘wh*re on stage’ at the Staples Center in LA.

Regardless of how one feels about the performance, running a headline calling a woman a “whore” is completely unprofessional. Yes, it was a direct quote from a Grammys viewer, but hiding behind quotation marks does not lessen the disrespect intended with that title.

It’s 2014, and women, even married ones, are still being publicly shamed for expressing their sexuality.

Watch the performance that has upset the parents of children who clearly don’t have curfews.

“Watch the performance that has upset the parents of children who clearly don’t have curfews.” What? Curfews? This was the opening performance of a program broadcast in Prime time. What adolescent goes to bed at 8, 7 central?

Calling someone a whore because they wore a leotard and stockings during their performance is inappropriate. First of all that song isn’t for kids in the first place. If you as a parent won’t take the time to premonitor your child’s entertainment, that’s your problem….not the artist….maybe Bey should pen an editorial entitled, Unfit Parents: Expecting TV to automatically adjust do they don’t have to raise their own kids

  3. I turned my TV back to Law and Order as soon as I saw Beyoncé on stage. Her performance was for shock value just like the UK Metro’s response. They wrote the headline for shock value and to sell papers and Beyoncé wanted everyone to be talking about her performance at the 2014 Grammy’s for days. Some people saw her performance as sexy and some as sleazy and inappropriate for the Grammy’s. There is a fine line between sexy and sleazy. Looking at the steal shots, she crossed over into the sleazy column.
