In order to floss properly, use 18 inches of floss, winding most of its length around each middle finger leaving an inch or two to work with.  Holding the floss taught between the thumbs and index fingers use an up and down motion to gently glide the floss between the teeth curving around the base of each tooth under the gum line.  Never snap or force the floss between the teeth as it may bruise the delicate tissue of the gums and cause bleeding to occur.  Make sure to use a clean section of floss every time to avoid returning plaque onto the teeth.

Flossing takes about two to three minutes to complete but provides a lifetime of tooth protection. Don’t skip out on the opportunity to have healthy teeth and a smile that brightens up any room.
