Central Park 5 Take Legal Action On Donald Trump

The Central Park 5 is taking legal actions against Donald Trump.

On Oct 21, Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusuf Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise, also known as the Exonerated Five, sued Donald Trump for defamation. They are suing him over the remarks he made during the presidential debate against Kamala Harris last month.

According to their 20 page lawsuit, they said Donald Trump had “reckless disregard” when he claimed they pleaded guilty and “admitted” to the 1989 crime of brutally beating and sexually assaulting a woman in Central Park. Their attorney stated: “Defendant Trumo’s statements were false and defamatory in numerous respects. The plaintiffs never pled guilty and maintained their innocence throughout their trial and incarcerations, as well as after they were released from prison.”

Trump tried to address the situation when he stated the 5 were “badly hurt” and “killed a person.” None of the victims of the Central Park assault were killed. The group is suing for compensatory and punitive damages that came from Donald Trumps remarks.

The 5 min were infamously concerned into confessing to the crime when they were teenagers. They were cleared in 2002 after DNA proved their innocence. The men are now in their 50s.
