Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall has been slammed for the handling of officer Amber Guyger, who killed Botham Shem Jean in his own home on September 6. Guyger has not been fired from her job, it took 72 hours for her to be arrested and Hall passed the case to the Texas Rangers, who have an alleged history of police cover ups. Hall, who is a Black woman, and has been the police chief for only a year, addressed a town hall meeting at Paul Quinn College last night.

Hall asked for patience and when grilled on why Guyger hasn’t been fired, she answered, “I can’t do that because there are both local, state and federal laws that prohibit me from taking action. There are civil service laws we have to adhere to.” However, according to ABC 8, “The Dallas Police Department general orders do allow the chief to take action, saying, ‘The Chief of Police may circumvent all formal disciplinary procedures to render an immediate decision when it deems it necessary to preserve the integrity of the department.’”

ABC 8 reports it is “unclear” the laws Hall is referring to and “the chief can order that process to be expedited.”

The Dallas District Attorney Faith Johnson, who is also a Black woman, said in an interview with, “Obviously, we can’t talk about the facts. The only thing I can say … is that we are investigating that case, it’s still ongoing, and we haven’t slowed up. We’re looking at every conceivable, possible thing that we can look at to be able to bring this case to the grand jury. And it won’t be tomorrow, it won’t be next week, because we say to people, ‘We want to get it right.’”

We truly hope the family of Botham Jean gets justice.

WHAT! You the chief. Was it worth getting to this point in your career to find out that you have no power? Everyday GOD shakes his head at our coward, stupidity behavior. We are his soldiers and if we stand up TOGETHER and fight he will be there for us. We are no longer slaves. Everything they do to us can be done to them (an eye for an eye) Brown skin men you been punks for to long, it’s time to fight back! They’ve already distressed and destroyed 99% of his beautiful earth so what’s to lose .

  2. Even in civil service positions, you can fire anyone, and “let” civil service figure it out. The problems arise when the fired person makes a comeback, and sues you. I submit, that is what the police chief is thinking of, her pocket book…

  3. Black People wake up like i have been saying for over 50 years blacks in so call power have no power right up to that (white) house with the first black man you are still kissing white folks ass!!

  4. Dallas just sentenced a cop to 15 years for killing a 14 year old innocent child. Now y’all know, they can’t do that too often, that would make us feel like BLACK LIVES DO MATTER, and that can never happen. As far as MAC DADDY is concerned, he’s like Trump, he wants attention. Let him do ignorant alone, just ignore him, that’s the best way to throw Holy water on him.

  5. This matter has nothing to with the chief being being weak or powerless.that officer will have her days in court. and upon her conviction weather it be manslaughter or murder she will be fired.

This woman is following orders from the fraternal order of police who rule every big city police force.Black police chiefs across America are powerless.

  8. The Dallas PD Chief is merely a fucking PUPPET.

Obviously, SHE HAS VERY LITTLE AUTHORITY when it comes to what she can and cannot do regarding the MISCONDUCT of PIGS when it comes to police shooting/killing INNOCENT civilians.

Mr. Jean’s parents NEED to take further action in this matter.

I sincerely hope that they receive JUSTICE for the MURDER of their son.
However, since it is the State of Texas –(remember Sandra Bland*)—
I WON’T HOLD MY DAMN BREATH!!!!!!!!!!!
