A Balch Springs, Texas police officer fired at a vehicle Saturday night, killing 15-year-old Jordan Edwards the Dallas Morning News reports.

According to the police, the officers involved were responding to a report about underage drinking. Balch Springs Police Chief Jonathan Haber said his officers heard gunshots, as the vehicle in which Edwards was riding in backed toward them “in an aggressive manner.”

An officer fired at the vehicle and struck the high school freshman. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Haber said no officers were injured, and he had no information about weapons in the vehicle.

Edwards’ family demands answers.

Their attorney, Lee Merritt, said the teenager was leaving a party when the officer shot through the passenger side window of the vehicle, which the attorney said was not driven aggressively. Merritt denied that Edwards and the others in the vehicle had been drinking, adding that they were not the teens who were reported.

Meanwhile the police have not identified the officer who shot Edwards. The officer is on routine administrative leave, but the family says the officer should be charged.

What is so agonizingly difficult about obeying a law officers command? Jordan would still be alive today

What is so difficult about honesty and integrity when the cops have to summarize the events as they occurred what’s so difficult about treating a black life with the same regard as you treat your dogs

Well, well, well, BAW needs to update this story with more facts that are being released from the Balch Springs PD. Looks as if, once again, the bad apples lied on their police reports stating that the car was moving backwards in an aggressive manner towards the them, but clearly that wasn’t what the body cameras show. LIARS!!!!!

I heard that the police shot into a car that had no weapons in it. I heard that citizens shouldn’t be summarily executed because of what a policeman thought. I heard that this happens all the time.

This is the Trayvon Martin Syndrome. The media pushes a picture that is years old of the victim. Why? Jordan Edward’s social media pictures are starting to leak out. Appears this “straight A” students was no stranger to handguns or criminal mischief.

I just read that the attorney for the family is attempting to seal Jordan’s school and police records from public discovery. Why would you lock up records of an innocent freshman with straight A’s in school? Doesn’t make sense. Wouldn’t that data exonerate him of wrongdoing, or at least help?

Must be something in his recent past that doesn’t line up with the story they are trying to spin. Blame the victim. so tired of this CRAP

A week or so ago, a black American, Delaware State Trooper was cold bloodly murdered by a black supremest cop hater at the Wawa in Bear, Delaware. The important news event didn’t get any national news. Could it be the cops are on edge? I’d be itchy with my trigger finger if black supremests weren’t smart enough to listen.

I’m with specailt, I’ll wait for more information to be released. The only things for sure now, first, that is not a current day picture of the 15 year old. Secondly, his attorney was not at the scene, so I will not take any statement he makes as fact.

These Officers should be held accountable for their poor decision-making as it relate to life/or death situations.

    • Dr. Larry on said:

Do you have facts in the case that the rest of the public aren’t privy to? What makes you so sure that it was the officers that showed poor decision making?
