Did Brandy throw shade at Monica … again during her critically praised set at the Soul Train Awards which aired Sunday night on BET and Centric? That is the question.

Well, if she didn’t she might as well have ’cause that’s assumption by a lot of folks. The Lady of Soul Award-recipient changed the lyrics to her song “Talk About Our Love.”

Love B. Scott makes note that It’s not clear what she’s referencing with lyrics about Instagram, someone “talking ish” and letting their whole “fan base jump in.”

Shade? #brandy (vid @quitfeenin)

So without any official explanation from Miss Brandy, you’re left to assume the new lyrics were inspired by her recent Instagram beef with Monica.

Love B. Scott makes note that It’s not clear what she’s referencing with lyrics about Instagram, someone “talking ish” and letting their whole “fan base jump in.”

Surprise, surprise! Now, you knew that Monica wasn’t sit back and not respond to the situation one way or the other. Here’s how she replied to a fan’s comment:

“Love that goes BOTH ways. it’s disappointing to leave ICU and come to my page to see the foolishness of the 90s ever so present amongst BOTH groups . I will forever respect the legend she is & the history we created. All of you guys do the same ??She’s a vocal beast and we’re both great in our own right!! ??This is her moment. She earned and deserves it . No mention or @ of my name needed !!”

Well that was a rather classy (and sassy) response, if we do say so. Hopefully this will put the issue to rest. But we won’t be surprised if it doesn’t.

What do you think?

  1. I’ve read some of Brandy’s quotes and it does seem that whatever transpired between her and Monica it left a very sour taste in her mouth. But, Monica seems to be taking the high road and for that, I commend her. It’s easy to be defensive and to respond in kind. But, it takes a lot of courage and maturity to rise above it. I like them both, but Monica is showing herself to be the better woman.

Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. It hurts to see conflict among people who are blessed. Rather than causing or contributing to shade, let’s ignore it when it comes our way and focus on the good and happy things in our life. Think on those things of good report.

  3. Dr.kings dream wasn’t about this black women not gettin along.both women are beautiful and one another life is to short for any beefs.lift each other up and don’t tear one another play into the hands of the supportive and smart your kids are watching and will copy the behavior if you don’t swash it.both women are beautiful together.mend the fences and love from this day forward.the dreamer is crying when he watches over us and see black folks not getting along.his fight was hard enough to get us some justice and were destroying that bickering over nothing.learn to get along and support one a mother and only then will we fulfill the dreamers dream that he and so many sacrificed for.learn to love and pass it on.
