Idris Elba and Richard Madden play men on opposite sides of the law who must team up to find a group of terrorists in France in “The Take.”

Originally titled “Bastille Day” (and tweaked following the July terror attack in Nice), the Paris-set action-drama sees Elba as CIA agent Sean Briar, who enlists the help of a young American conman, Michael Mason (Madden) for an anti-terrorist mission.

On the eve of Bastille Day, Mason steals a handbag containing a teddy bear. After tossing the stuffed animal in the trash, it explodes, killing four people. The French police tag Mason as a terrorist suspect and pursue him.

Unknown to Mason, the explosion was set up by a select group in the French Interior Ministry as a decoy to make a half-billion dollar digital transfer from a bank.

CIA case officer Sean Briar discovers the truth behind the terrorist attack, and enlists Mason to root out those responsible for the attack.

Focus Features will release “The Take” in theaters and on demand on Nov. 18.
