LOS ANGELES (AP) — A JetBlue flight attendant who authorities say left behind 70 pounds of cocaine worth up to $3 million after flinging off her heels and running from security at Los Angeles International Airport was arrested Wednesday in New York.

Marsha Gay Reynolds surrendered to federal authorities at John F. Kennedy International Airport, though it wasn’t immediately clear how she reached New York, federal officials said.

It has been confirmed that Reynolds, 32, who appeared in federal court today in Brooklyn, was the second runner-up in the Miss Jamaica pageant in 2008, according to NBC News. Reynolds is an New York University grad who is a U.S. citizen with Jamaican heritage. She worked for JetBlue for the last six years and was working towards a nursing degree, NBC reported.

Although a New York judge approved a half a million dollar bail package secured by her mother and pastor’s homes,  a final decision was delayed until tomorrow until California courts weigh in. Prosecutors want her in custody until she can be extradited to Los Angeles, but if bail is approved, she will be confined to her Queens home and to nursing classes, says NBC. An as yet unidentified alleged co-conspirator may have been trying to leave the U.S. but has not been captured yet.

“She a good girl who comes from a good family,” Alan Jennings, a Reynolds family spokesman said outside the courtroom. “She’s done everything right in her life up to this point. More to the story is going to come out.”

Transportation Security Administration officials asked Reynolds to step aside for a random security screening Friday, authorities said. Reynolds went to a secondary screening area but quickly dropped her bag, ditched a pair of Gucci heels and fled barefoot downward on an upward-moving escalator, Marshall McClain, president of the union representing LAX airport police officers, said Monday.

Reynolds was charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute. It was unclear if she yet had an attorney.

Mrozek said prosecutors believe reports that Reynolds was a runner-up in Miss Jamaica World 2008 are true. New York University lists a Marsha-Gay Reynolds as having been on the school’s 2004 women’s track and field team, though it wasn’t immediately clear if that was the same Reynolds arrested Wednesday.

On Friday, Reynolds arrived at an LAX checkpoint in Terminal 4 wearing jeans, heals and a black suit jacket, carrying her “known crew member badge,” according to an FBI affidavit in support of the charge against Reynolds.

When Reynolds was chosen for a random security screening, TSA Officer Jamie Samuel said the flight attendant became nervous and began looking around before pulling out her cellphone and making a call, according to the affidavit.

Samuel reported that Reynolds was talking on the phone in a foreign language as she was being taken to a secondary screening area, the affidavit says.

Once in the secondary screening area, TSA Officer Charles James asked for her identification.

“At this time, Reynolds dropped her carry-on luggage, removed her shoes and began to run away,” according to the affidavit.

James saw Reynolds run down an upward-moving escalator and out of the terminal, the affidavit says, adding that the officer didn’t pursue her because her abandoned luggage was his main concern.

LAX police soon after found 11 packages of cocaine wrapped in green cellophane and labeled, “BIG Ranch” inside one of the bags Reynolds had left behind, the affidavit says.

The cocaine weighed just over 68 pounds. Wholesale, the drugs would be worth about $750,000 in Los Angeles, said Special Agent Timothy Massino, a spokesman for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

On the streets of Los Angeles, Massino said the retail value of the cocaine could be as high as $3 million.

Security threats from “insiders,” including airline and airport employees and workers hired by contractors, have been a focus of the TSA, particularly after the December 2014 arrest of several Delta Air Lines baggage handlers. Prosecutors allege they smuggled guns, including an AK-47, from Atlanta to New York.

The TSA has said that full screening of all employees would cost too much. Instead, the agency has urged airports to increase random screenings of workers and to keep background checks up to date.

“We will pay particular attention to the insider threat,” TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger told a Senate committee earlier this month.

Had the world by the drawz and still couldn’t stop with the crime. Aye…that’s what we do. Basketball and football players, rappers, actors and civic leaders. Now flight attendants.

How many people would have been killed selling, or using these drugs. She was attempting to murder Americans via cocain.

Wow, this begs the question: What price freedom? It’s a shame she put her own freedom in such low regard as to do something so incredibly stupid. She will have a long time to think about the stupidity of her actions because she won’t be doing any small time based on that haul. Even if she was forcibly coerced under threat of harm to herself and/or her family (which would be unfortunate), it’s still all for naught now. If she ever sees the light of day again, she will surely be a prune.

  5. This makes me so sick. She had a decent job. This woman got payed to fly all over the country. And could probably travel on personal vacays to most places for free.Im sure she probably enjoyed other perks. Many people would be appreciative for a job like that. Her greed made her throw her life away.smdh

  6. Ok. She was running in LAX okay and got arrested in New York. Are you telling me she just went and got on the plane like nothing happened? If she was on the plane doing her job; I just can’t believe it.

I hope she enjoyed the things that money bought her, because it’s going to be a while before she sees them again. I almost had some compassion for her, but this was not her first time, she made a conscious choice to commit this crime.

And what gets me about these criminals is that they do all of this for money and things; and at the end of they day even when they get caught, where is all of this money and things/matherial stuff that they risk their freedom and life on to get and now they have a FELONY on their record? NO Where. Stupid.

  8. I’m sure the Feds would love to get their hands on whom ever she’s working for,
I’m guessing she’s singing like a mocking bird to avoid the next 40 years in
    Fed housing

I don’t think she is going to sing Jhuf… especially if she’s working for some Jamaican or South American Cartel, they will WIPE out her FAMILY TREE, before she gets a chance to sign the paper work… I think she’s going to take whatever deal, do her time, and come out just in time for Medicare 🙂 Oh scratch the Medicare if she isn’t a US citizen…

Not kicked off the Gucci’s and ran LOL She has done this several time over and was taking a huge chance that she would not be randomly selected to be searched. Too bad all money ain;t good money. Now look at your future gone down the drain. SMH

    • Amber on said:

I agree. And where is that money now? GONE and NO WHERE. Stupid nut. As I often say to suspects, “What make you think you can get away with it”? Everyone who get caught once thought they could get away with you, what make you more special? And they sit there and look stupid when I ask the question.

  10. She’s definitely done this multiple times. She was carrying too much weight. Now she’s still on the hook for that money to whomever the delivery was for. Now she needs an attorney and she owes somebody 3 million. This will be a movie trust me.

    • Amber on said:

I agree. This is not her first dance at the rodeo. WHat gets me is DID SHE REALLY THINK SHE WAS GOING TO GET AWAY WITH IT? Oh let me guess, she got away with it a few times and now she thing she is untouchable. Honey, I got news for you, ALL MEN/WOMEN IN PRISON thought the same thing.

  11. Kimboo on said:

Corruption is EVERYWHERE, and can’t believe she actually thought she would actually got a way with this? Or… she has before, and this time cut out that other person, and they SNITCHED on her? And now, only federal prison awaits the beauty….
