The Supreme Court is taking on affirmative action again in a case that involves the University of Texas. Justice Antonin Scalia, one of the court’s staunchest conservatives was questioning a lawyer arguing for race being a factor that should be incorporated into the admission process. During that questioning, Scalia made these comments:

There are those who contend that it does not benefit African-Americans to get them into the University of Texas where they do not do well, as opposed to having them go to a less-advanced school, a less — a slower-track school where they do well,” Scalia said, according to the transcript. “One of the briefs pointed out that most of the black scientists in this country don’t come from schools like the University of Texas.”

“They come from lesser schools where they do not feel that they’re being pushed ahead in classes that are too fast for them,” Scalia said. “I’m just not impressed by the fact that the University of Texas may have fewer. Maybe it ought to have fewer. And maybe some — you know, when you take more, the number of blacks, really competent blacks, admitted to lesser schools, turns out to be less.”

  1. With all do respect to the University of Texas. When did they become a top ten school in anything? Except sports in the late 90’s early 2000’s

I went to a white college and they are over rated. Black colleges produce better educated, more qualified and well rounded people. A lot of whites go to college because the parents can write a check but they are not very bright. They should be going to community college. Former president Bush went to Yale but he had a C average because he could afford it. He definitely should have been at a community college

I am outraged by these comments from Scalia. With his comments how can black people believe they can receive justice from a racially biased justice. He should recuse himself from the court and put his hood back on.

  4. …The “Top Schools” have no problem using black students to bring in top dollars for their athletic departments…Exploiting them to bring in millions upon millions of dollars.

Wow unbelievable! If you’re black and you’re not offended by this statement, there’s something seriously wrong with you. Scalia should definitely be asked to retire, he’s become useless and CT also, just becasue he wasn’t offended.

That’s why we need term limits for Supreme Court at the max 12 years anything after that you lose perspective like Scalia of the real world….he should have been admonished by Justice Roberts for those remarks.

It’s really a Damn shame when an ignorant judge sits in the bench, what’s even more apauling is Clarence Thomas who graduated from an ivy league school and still thinks he got there all on his own. Hey if the “top Predominately White schools” don’t want blacks then take your hard earned money and go to a top black university. Someone asked sometime ago are the HBCU still necessary. They are even more necessary now then before.
