Just days after the killing of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, O.J. Simpson considered committing suicide in Kim Kardashian’s bedroom, according to the author of a book on Simpson’s murder trial.
Lawrence Scholler, who wrote “American Tragedy: The Uncensored Story of the O.J. Simpson Defense,” told ABC’s “20/20″ that Kardashian was 14 and staying with her dad Robert Kardashian, who was part of the defense team when Simpson was charged with Nicole and Ron’s murders.
In the days between the 1994 killings and his infamous freeway chase, the attorney found the former NFL star in “Kimmy’s” room, making “a suicide tape” and holding photos of Nicole and their kids, Justin and Sydney.
“Then O.J. said, ‘I’m going to kill myself in this room,’ and I said, ‘You can’t. This is my daughter’s bedroom,’” the late Kardashian reportedly said in a recorded interview. “‘My little girl Kim sleeps here. I can’t have my little girl in this bedroom, and every time I come in here, I’m going to see your body lying in this. You can’t do that.’”
Kardashian and Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, divorced in 1989. He died of cancer in 2003.
Simpson – currently imprisoned in Nevada for armed robbery and kidnapping — was acquitted of the murders in 1995 after a highly publicized, 16-month trial.
